Everyone always talks about wishing for more time to learn a new skill or to start doing what you always wanted to do and we finally have that opportunity with this pandemic. It’s a crazy time. Thousands of people have died and it’s truly a global tragedy and I strongly believe we should all acknowledge this, but we have to remember that if we continue to have the opportunity to keep it pushing, we owe it to ourselves and everyone else to make the most of it.
Yea, that means we have do work.
Here’s a list of things I know I’ll be working on and some things you should probably consider adding to your list too.
-
Learn basic excel tricks. You can never known enough when it comes to Excel. As you progress in your corporate job or if you decide to go the small business route, having Excel knowledge will take you further and will avoid asking for help later on. Being known as, “the Excel” person is definitely a luxury.
2. Learn how to use iMovie on my computer to edit videos. Strictly for fun, but there’s a ton of cool stuff you could do with pictures too. I made a video for my best friend on the day of his wedding and it turned out okay. Maybe I could make it better?
3. Work on my French using Duolingo. It’s free on your App Store. Rosetta Stone is also offering 3 months free for those that want to practice any other language too.
4. Work on coding. This could help make my site look cooler. It’s one of those things that will continue to only be needed more and more often.
5. Figure out that one “specialty meal” and perfecting my own way to cook it.
6. Re-read your favorite book, or find a new favorite book. Try books like, “The Alchemist”, “The Timekeeper”, or “Master Your Ego”.
7. Organize your pictures on your computer or on your phone. Create albums for easy access to those more special memories.
8. Make music playlists and share them with the people you care about. Create playlists for when you feel mellow, for when you want to clean, and when you just want to be happy around the house.
9. Make a bucket list for travel. Create a top 10 of places you’ll want to travel to when this is all over, because it will be over at some point.
10. Update your resume.
11. Build a spending budget. Try and cut down on small expenses, especially during this time where it could be easy to build a habit.
12. Spend a day tracking down what you do every hour so you can see how much time you actually spend being productive. Do this on a day you’re at work and a day you’re at home. Count the time you spend on your phone.
13. Build a list of things that make you happy and do more of that.
14. Create your trust if you need to, make sure beneficiaries are up to date. Write a eulogy. Death’s the only thing promised to us, may as well be prepared, right?
For extra curricular activities, I’m going to write a letter to every girl that ever broke my heart and a letter to those I may have hurt in the past. Don’t send it out. Just make sure you clear yourself of past trauma. Be ready for the reset button once this is all over. Don’t let this time just pass without doing something.
YOU.GOT.DIS.
Also… check out my Twitter. I’m going to get more active with positivity and laughs. Also, the election is kind of a big deal, so make sure you educate yourself on what’s important to you.
7. Reconsider your job. Go back to school if you need to. Work on you once this gets back to BAU.
Love ya’ll! Be safe! 8/8
