That’s all he could think about. In his world, there were one thousand things he had going on, and he couldn’t stop thinking about it if he wanted to.
Believe me; he wanted to. He thought it’d be much easier for him and just for everything around him. Why not, you know? Sure, he was done with ease, but everyone says that they’re trying to be a better person.
He wasn’t used to something like this. What do you do when the easy option is also the best? Easy, but not settling? Crazy, right?
So he changed it all up. He thought about going far away even. What a great new way to start from scratch. Rebranding himself and building an entirely new roster of characters that would be the supporting cast for his life. He went to bed, even picturing himself in this unique setting. At some point, it didn’t even feel like he was dreaming anymore. He could feel it. When he opened his window blinds, he could see his new city. He could smell it when he walked to his mailbox.
That’s normally when it happens, though. The universe makes you believe it all, and then suddenly, you have the rug pulled from right under you. Sometimes when it’s late at night, he goes outside and asks the sky, “why’d you make me go thru that?” Sometimes, the universe talks back; this time, the universe said, “if I didn’t make you uncomfortable for just a little while, you’d have stayed stagnant.”
He realized it right at that moment. It’s good for the plot. That was his phrase to live by from now on. He was even wanting all the things and having them just within reach. This is all for the plot of the story. Maybe we didn’t close the chapter on the story. Perhaps this was part of the puzzle, and this is one of those pieces you have to put away because you can’t quite figure out where it goes.
And to think all of this resulted from one thing. We’re in for a heck of a story.
