I Told The Stars About You

I told the stars about you.

They asked why we took so long to be together.

Imagine that. The stars already knew about you and me. They knew what we were capable of doing separately, and they know we could be unstoppable together. I told them it was complicated; they said it really wasn’t. I couldn’t say anything else.

The stars told the sky about you and me. They told the sky to bring us closer no matter what that meant. The sky already knew about us. They thought that we loved each other more than anyone had ever loved someone else. The sky was almost jealous of us both, almost only because we made things complicated on our own.

It’s not easy to explain to the sky and the stars about the situation. While they won’t judge our choices and they won’t question our decisions, they see just about everything and hear the words we left unsaid.

Those words left unsaid are the ones that make the sky build up enough clouds to cover the world with rain. The same words cause the stars to shoot across the sky at night and light up the desert skies.

I told the stars about you, and somehow they already knew.

They told me everything I wanted to hear because it was things I already had in my mind. The only thing left for them to tell me was if you talked to them about me too.
