Maybe the grass is greener on the other side.
Maybe everything I’ve ever imagined is even better than what I initially thought.
Maybe the only thing holding me back is my fear.
Have you ever had that one thought while you were having a long day at work where you’re like, “sheesh, I should probably go back to school and study doing this or that, I’d probably really enjoy that.”
Or maybe you haven’t had that thought, and you’ve thought to yourself, “man, I should make that jump and apply for that job I might not be fully qualified for.”
Or maybe if you’re like me, you’ve had both thoughts run through your head.
One of the first phrases I think to myself is that the grass isn’t greener on the other side.
The older I get, the more I hate that saying.
It’s worth figuring it out all on your own and not allowing anybody else to make that decision for you.
Sure, the grass is always greener when you water it, but dammit, you should always find out.
Sometimes the yard on the other end of the fence isn’t precisely grass. It’s a fucking beautiful pond.
Sometimes you get unlucky, and the yard on the other side is full of dirt and weeds.
The only thing worse than a yard full of dirt and weeds is the thought of you getting old and on your death bed and going your entire life wondering what was on the other side of the fence. The fear of even trying it out and giving it a chance is the worst type of anxiety.
That fear stops you from growth, and not growing causes you to keep your potential bottled up.
You may have all the reasons in the world not to consider the grass on the other side, but I’ve learned that trying is so much better than staying put.
I hope you always choose to try.
