To The Moon

Dear Moon,

How do you do it?
Go on about your days and nights with everyone thinking you’re not even there?
How do you feel about being completely there for us and yet, people believing you only show up in full form once or twice a month?
It’s probably unfair, right? Being there for us consistently, yet not being recognized for it.
Do you know that I make the effort to find you every night?
I’m sure I’m just about one in a billion that does the same thing.
I even make nights where I want to see you up close.
Some of my favorite songs are about you.
You’re my favorite analogy for something that I’m so close to having, yet it is so far away.
Because that’s how you feel, I feel like you’re there but at the same time, I don’t.
There are nights where I feel like you’re there for me more than others.
Then there are others where I flat out ignore your beauty.
Do you ever wonder about how so many people must do the same thing?
That’s a shame because what does that tell me about my attention span?
That I can ignore the most beautiful thing in our sky and yet, still not make it a point to see it every chance I get?
I can’t even remember the last time I took a picture of you on my phone.
It is a shame.
I want to do right by you going forward.
This whole staying at home thing has got me wanting to restructure my life into knowing what’s always there and what’s not.
You’ve watched over me even on days you probably wish you wouldn’t and you’ve stuck by my side as long as I can remember.
No matter where I go, there you are, following my every move. Ensuring that I have something to look at when it seems like there’s nothing else.
In reality, there is nothing else in my head other than you.
You’re easier on the eyes than the sun.
Thanks for doing what you do.
I can’t say it enough, but I’d be lost without you.

Your #1 Fan,
-Christian
