You ever thought about what you’re addicted to? I’m not talking about drugs, alcohol, or gambling stuff. I’m talking about positive and negative addictions all in the same. If you look up the definition of an addiction it will say, “ the fact or condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing, or activity.” I recognize there are positive and negative addictions of course, I’d like to focus on my positive addictions. Maybe my negative addictions can be a topic for another day.
I’m personally addicted to a challenge. I can’t go too long without it. If I don’t have it for too long I’ll get tired, I’ll be uninterested, and I’ll search for it all the time. Never been a fan of having something being so easy. This probably explains why I always have so many kinds of hobbies and I like to try new activities all the time. It probably explains why I tend to look for new cliques to join in every now and then, just to get involved in something else for a change every now and then. It probably explains that I haven’t stayed in a role for more than 3 years at a time. I love the challenge.
The addiction to the challenge can also have complications, that’s for sure. There are times where it makes me ungrateful for what I have, all because I want something better or different. Not realizing that others would probably kill for what I have at times. I can’t help but want to always stimulate my mind to keep learning and keep experiencing the unexperienced. I’ve never related more to the phrase, “chasing a feeling” before I realized I was addicted to this, but I choose not to stop.
What’s your addiction?
