Mistakes

Imagine living a mistake free life?

Couldn’t be me.

That’s probably the first thought that comes to mind afterwards.

For a moment in my life, I actually wanted to be that guy. Living mistake free was actually a mission for me for most of my young adult life. This doesn’t mean I didn’t make mistakes, quite the contrary. Avoiding making mistakes made me make more mistakes in the long run. I’ve been making mistakes and convincing myself that these were not mistakes. My ego was so convinced that what I was doing was right, that I ignored anything or anybody telling me I was screwing up.

Looking back, that’s the worst way to live. Now, I try and look back at mistakes I’ve made and take ownership of what I can, but more importantly, I think it’s just critical to care less about the mistakes you’re making. The more emphasis you put into not making mistakes, the more you’re avoiding what you could learn from along these choices. I’m not saying to go out and be wreckless, but maybe it’s time to just let things happen and worry less about the outcome going forward.

You never know what you’d be missing out on.
