Hey Unborn Child Pt. 3

It seems I’ve been thinking of you a lot more than I usually do. Believe me, I always think of you, I just haven’t been disciplined to write it out to share with you and the rest of the world.

Anyways, I just wrapped up watching a movie, “Queen and Slim” and I really think that it’s my favorite movie of all time. It takes the cake for me right now. It’s such an important movie with such important topics that come up. Eventually, you and I will watch that together and I already know you’ll have a ton of questions. So I’m going to answer a few of them for you right now.

  1. Shouldn’t we just always listen to authority?

    • Not exactly, baby. We can’t just roll over to injustices. Don’t misinterpret this to cause disrespect because we give everyone respect until they give you a reason to take it back. We are also not stupid. Our life isn’t worth being lost for our pride either. We will use our resources whenever possible. We have rights and we should always use them. I want you to live to be 1000 and I don’t want someone else’s ignorance be the main reason you’re not there to see me get old.

  2. Do minorities really have it tougher than everyone else?

    • Absolutely. No question about it. Our minority brothers and sisters always have to work harder for everything that we want. We don’t have as much privilege as our lighter color brothers and sisters, but that’s okay. That doesn’t make everyone that’s lighter than us the enemy, and it doesn’t automatically make us a victim. We don’t have to ignore that fact at times and it just means we have to be smarter. There’s no reason to shove into everyone else’s face or preach it, but recognizing it goes a long way. This is why we have to support our brothers and sisters AT ALL TIMES.

  3. Is it ever going to get better?

    • That’s a question I don’t quite know the answer too. If I’m going to be honest, that’s my biggest fear and probably the biggest reason I haven’t made a conscious effort to bring you into this world sooner. At this point, this nation has seen a ton of progress, and quite frankly, I don’t know if this is enough progress in 2019. We see a lot of racism and a lot of things that make me feel like we’re going backwards. I don’t have all the answers to what is causing this, but I promise you that I’m really making efforts to change what’s within my reach, you know? I guess, as I’m writing this out, I realize I really haven’t done as much as much as I should. We’re going to make it though. I promise. We’ll keep pushing for what’s right for everyone.

Love you!
