Let’s Talk About The Important Things…

When’s the last time you spoke about something deeper than what is happening on the news? Or even smaller talk than that, maybe a conversation about the weather? I know it happens often to myself, it seems like all we ever really talk about with people are things like how our work day went and what we’re planning on eating later on in the day. It’s not necessarily a bad thing in my opinion, it’s healthy to release some tension with the things that happen everyday for us. I want to start talking about things deeper than that though. Let’s start talking about what you think you’ll do when you retire. I’m talking about realistically. Not some made up world scenario either. I’m talking about a situation in which if you kept doing the same thing that you’re doing now at the same pace, what would you really be doing? It’s not always a pretty scenario, but it’s a conversation worth happening right? When’s the last time you spoke to someone of the opposite political party about what you look for in a political candidate without arguing with one another? When’s the last time you talked about death? Everyone knows that it’s the only thing that is ever really guaranteed to us, but we never talk about it. Shoot, I could die tomorrow and nobody would ever really know what I would want you guys to do at my funeral. For the record, I’d want a banda to be at my funeral and you guys all better sing along or else I’d be extremely disappointed.
My point is that we need to really start talking about the important things. I’ll start. I challenge you to at least try it once a week whenever you’re just scrolling on your social media to try it out. I want to commit to it myself. The only real change that happens begins within ourselves, right?
