Take a few moments and imagine with me for just a few moments.
Close your eyes if you have to, but then open them again to just read the rest.
Take away all of the past memories and stereotypes that you have had in the past. Throw them all out at this moment.
Now imagine that you are just a young boy/girl and your parents are struggling to put food on the table on a daily basis, but they do whatever they can to provide. By doing this, they are sacrificing much of the food that they need to be healthy. Even though they are able to provide you with this food, you are still not being properly nourished. You do not have easy access to medicine nor do you have access to clean water. Basically, just imagine you are in a world where everything you take for granted is actually missing. You do not have access to that 10 minute shower you take on a daily basis, the tools necessary to brush your teeth, or the comfortable shoes you recently bought a couple of days ago.
Unfortunately, this is real life for approximately 1 billion children worldwide.
Personally, I cannot live my entire life without attempting to assist those children. They may not know me personally, nor will they ever really know who I am, but I want to help them. As a kid, when I found out that Martin Luther King was born on the same day as me, I knew I wanted to help people in need. Who better than the children of this crazy planet? I’m an advocate for this children living in poverty and I am willing to do whatever it takes to assist those children. That’s why, everything that I do from this point on in my life will be to assist those living in poverty.
What I’m asking of you is to ask what you’re doing to help those in need. You can make a difference. Join me in my journey to end world poverty. We have so many leaders who have been advocating for years and they need our help to successfully finish their mission. We can do this.
So now… I just ask you to imagine for just one quick moment, a world where everyone had the access to the tools we all had. We are in fact all brothers and sisters, so let’s help lift those that need our help. This is possible.
Now go read this article to get an even deeper understanding (with numbers).
